Commissions
Commissioned works are one of a kind pieces made specifically with you or a loved one in mind. And they are a joy to make! My primary focus is on creating unique clergy stoles that tell personal and activist stories of faith, liberation, and connection. I have also created custom works inspired by illuminated manuscripts, similar to art works you can find here. All pieces are made by hand using embroidery and applique techniques.
These are some examples of how we can work together. My first clergy stole commission was an all-black (black hand-embroidery on black fabric) stole that told the story of Christ as a person of color resisting state oppression. With this story as my guide, I looked for symbols, imagery and stories that could communicate this idea with care. This client wanted no updates and instead to be surprised at the end. It was a touching experience! Recently, inspired by my exploration into embroidering illuminated manuscripts, I was asked to create a wedding present. This piece used, humor, inside jokes, and symbols to tell a story of love and friendship.
Its an honor to be invited into your life. My commission process aims to treat you and your story as precious.

Edits
Once stitching has begun, you can choose to have one in-progress update where I can make one minor change. All feedback on colors, materials, or design should be made during the consultation/sketch phase. Some people choose to have the final design and product a complete surprise, which is a really wonderful experience!

Starting rates begin at $1000 and increase depending on the piece you have in mind. After our initial consult I will send you a projected cost for your approval.
