Creative Mentorship

You and your work deserve to be well resourced and supported. The world so desperately needs your voice. Now more than ever is a time that demands we show up with our gifts in order to create a more just and equitable world. The hardest work is best done with a tender and compassionate community around us. When you work with me, I become part of your community.

As creatives, survivors, and people working for a more just and equitable world, we are often asked to engage with our traumas in public and professional settings. Yet those same places often do not provide the supports needed to feel safe in sharing. As part of your community I will help empower you to identify your needs, what is blocking you, and advocate for yourself. We will get honest about the barriers you experience, both internal and external, and how to keep moving towards your dreams.

I can’t wait to see what you do next!

Who I work with:

  • Artists (in the broadest sense)

  • Hobbyists - those looking to expand a creative practice on their own

  • Creative small businesses

Trauma-Informed Coaching

Trauma-informed means I seek to understand the ways trauma has impacted your ability to navigate creative work. I understand traumas as both individual and cultural, ranging from childhood abuse, sexual assault, to systemic oppression, state violence, etc. I provide a compassionate place to investigate how these wounds and patterns may be keeping you from showing up as you would like. Our primary goal is to keep you moving forward.

I do not offer trauma counseling.

I am not a therapist and working with me does not replace working with a therapist.

Ways I can support you

  • Working through what is blocking your creative practice

  • Clarifying goals/vision

  • Identifying and advocating for your needs

  • Developing new work

  • Feedback on websites, artist statement, and applications

*In addition to coaching, I also offer 1-on-1 technical lessons. Reach your goals through sewing and embroidery here.

“Working with Heather was so beneficial to my business. Brainstorming ideas with someone who knows the art & craft world so well and shares my values [racial justice] gave me a supportive place to grow. I highly recommend Heather to help jumpstart your business and unblock any potential problems. ”

— Lori, Owner of Abstract Fibers

“It was paradigm shifting.”
